I would like to have a third party review and negotiate multiple
invoices I have received from a law firm to make sure the invoices
accurately reflect the scope of services and amount of time spent by
the law firm. (I understand negotiating a law firm's invoices is
standard practice.) The person I would like to act as my
representative feels that he would have to be a licensed attorney to
discuss my invoices with the law firm. I disagree. Who is correct?
Can't I appoint anyone I want to handle a negotiation. Couldn't I even
appoint a retired, unlicensed attorney if I wanted to and call him my
consultant authorized to negotiate for me? And wouldn't the law firm
have to deal with him as he is my representative? Thanks.
