I have a 250,000 yen Amazon voucher that i would like to auction off
in Yahoo Amazon, if someone can sucessfully sell it i am prepared to
pay the fee for answering this question...

The obvious reason why i am unable to register and sell it is the language barrier.

Hello,

We can't sell it for you, however, we can instruct you on some of the
best places to sell it and reach your market. Would that constitute an
acceptable answer for you?

Greetings Traffic Junction,

I've discovered some information that may constitute an answer.

I spoke with a lady named Julie at Amazon Seller Support
(877.251.0696) and she told me that Amazon Japan doesn't have a
Marketplace so there's not a way to sell/auction the gift certificate
there. I also called customer service at Amazon (800.201.7575)and a
gentleman there said that each country site is independent and no
currency exchange is possible from one site to another (which you
probably already knew).

However, (as Julie instructed) if you visit http://amazon.jp and
scroll all the way to the bottom, you'll see a link in English that
reads "IN ENGLISH" and goes to the URL
http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/1094656/ref=gw_sn_eng/249-6371183-4591527

On that page, you'll see that you can search *and* shop in English.
So, there is a way for you to easily redeem the gift certificate. The
items will ship from Japan but at least I have found a way for you to
redeem the certificate if you choose.

I hope this information is of assistance and if you believe it answers
your question adequately, please post thusly and I'll place this
information in the answer area to claim the qiestion fee.

Best regards,
journalist-ga

My problem is that I am only able to but CD's and DVD's when shipping
to the UK, so it isn't really feasible. If i was to buy a laptop or
similar then i can't ship outside of Japan.

So i thought that if i sold the voucher on Yahoo Auctions then someone
who is already about to spend that much at Amazon Japan in Japan could
make a saving.

There are actually quite alot of shoppers from Japan who shop on eBay
(the US site). I sell fashion items there, and have shipped to Japan
multiple times (out of only 50 or so sales).

You should try auctioning it on the US site. I think you will probably
get a decent price for it, and you can set a reserve to protect
yourself.
