Hello tupper:

Thank for your question. Before I start I would like to reiterate the
Google Answer disclaimer found at the bottom of most pages on this
site:

We are not doctors here, and if anything that we find with our
searches causes you concern, you should speak about it to a trained
physician. From your question, it appears that you have already been
to see a doctor and have been diagnosed - that's a good start!

Having said all that, the shaking you are experiencing while asleep
have all the signs of being what are called "rest tremors".

Quote: "Rest tremor - Tremor that occurs in a body part that is not
voluntarily activated and is completely supported against gravity."

Rest tremors can be caused by carbon monoxide poisoning:

Quote: "other common causes of rest tremor include Parkinsons plus
syndromes, medications having extra-pyramidal side-effects
(neuroleptics, reserpine, metoclopromide, perhexiline, tetrabenazine),
Wilson's disease, non-Wilsonian hepatocerebellar degeneration,
midbrain pathology secondary to stroke or demyelinating disease,
carbon monoxide poisoning, and heavy metal poisoning."

Effects of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Quote: "For the purposes of Dr. Penney?s study, the term ?chronic? is
used to describe how long the carbon monoxide exposure lasts, not how
long the resulting effects are....Gross Neurological Disorders:
seizures, inability to speak, balance problems, tremors."

Quote: "After-effects of severe CO poisoning can occur during
recovery, such as headache and dizziness, blurred vision, varying
degrees of pain, loss of memory, lack of interest, confusion, and
tremors."

Another affliction that can cause rest tremors is Parkinson's:

Tremor - Best Practice Brief
URL: http://merck.micromedex.com/index.asp?page=bpm_viewall&article_id=BPM01NE07&show_banner=no
Quote: "Reassure the patient with rest tremor that, although it may be
the first sign of Parkinson's disease, many patients with rest tremor
never develop a more serious symptoms. (See the article on PD article
for more information.)"

Some sites state that carbon dioxide poisoning can in fact *lead* to Parkinson's:

Carbon Monoxide: Unseen Killer
URL: http://www.healthatoz.com/healthatoz/Atoz/hl/sp/info/alert04072000.jsp
Quote: "Carbon monoxide poisoning can lead to pulmonary, cardiac,
blood, neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, such as aspiration
pneumonia, irregular heartbeat, convulsions, anemia and kidney
failure, Lichenstein says.
Many victims suffer chronic disorders, such as personality changes,
memory impairment, Parkinson's disease, visual loss, dementia,
dysphasia and mutism, Lichenstein says. A person usually begins
exhibiting these chronic symptoms three weeks after exposure to
dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, Lichenstein says."

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Quote: "One of the big concerns over carbon monoxide exposure is the
long-term effect for people who are not treated properly. These
complications include psychiatric and memory disorders and Parkinson's
disease."

I hope that all this is not too overwhelming. I feel for your
predicament and hope you are able to find ways of lessening your CO
poisoning symptoms and effects.
