After Installing a wireless netgear adsl router on my home network,i
have found it very difficult to load so many pages from my internet
explorer browser,i cant update my windows ,and i cant also visit
microsoft sites from my ie browser, though aol browser works fine on
most pages but also does not load microsoft pages, this is happening
on the two computers i've got,i also downloaded the firefox
browser, and this has not resolved the problem, everything was fine
until i installed the wireless router,i got a system wired directly to
the router and the other one on wireless, but i'm having exactly the
same problem on the two.

Did you upgrade from a modem to the adsl router?
Aside from making changes to your connection settings,
as suggested, it's possible that, with your connection
being always on, you have picked up some bugs that are
messing with your system. Have you installed any kind
of firewall? And, what kind of protection do you have
installed with regards to adware, malware, and viruses?

Oh - and, if you had a modem previously, did you go into IE
Connections settings and remove the dialup connection and
configure the LAN settings to Automatically Detect Settings?

Yes,I did upgrade from a broadband modem to the netgear adsl
router, and i have also got mcafee installed for antivirus and firewall
protection, though i haven't been able to make any updates to this
service, since i installed the adsl router,my ie connection settings is
set to automatically detect settings,i am also suspecting that i might
have picked up some bugs, but how to remove the unwanted guests i have
no idea,thanks

kdairo...

The first step to ridding yourself of bugs would be
to (if possible) download and run Hijack This (HJT):
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

You can then either follow their instructions and
post your HJT logfile on their forum to receive help,
or you can copy, paste and parse your logfile on this
analyzer, and post the URL for the result back here:
http://hjt.iamnotageek.com/

Either the forum members or I can then tell you how to
use msconfig to remove unwanted and malicious items from
your Windows startup processes.

Before, or after running HJT, you can download or use
the online versions of the following programs. Installing
and running these first may eliminate some problems from
the HJT scan:

Free online & downloadable virus scans (choose one):

AntiVir:
http://www.free-av.com/

BitDefender:
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php

Computer Associates:
http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx

Panda:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

Trend Micro:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Trend Micro and AntiVir are known to pick up on things which
are sometimes missed by others. I use AntiVir, which is
especially useful in flagging and preventing attempted hidden
downloads of viruses and other malware from malicious sites.

You might also download, install and run the following:

Lavasoft AdAware:
http://www.lavasoft.de/

SpyBot Search and Destroy:
http://www.safer-networking.org

Another program which is particularly useful in repairing
damaged Winsock2 stacks - which would affect your ability
to connect to the internet - is LSPfix:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

And, as preventive measures, download and install:

Spyware Blaster
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

WinPatrol
http://www.winpatrol.com/
WinPatrol has a tab where you can look at, and disable
or delete, startup entries, in a much more user-friendly
way than with msconfig, as mentioned above.

Let me know where this takes you.

you might want to try changing the MTU (maximum transmission unit)
setting in the netgear to 1492.
