This isn't as easy as you might think. Before you plan certain strategies how to secure your website, you have to ask you a few questions: 1. Am I able to secure the website by myself or should I employ someone who knows what he is doing? Securing requires very good knowledge of the Internet Protocol and your system. 2. What am I afraid of? (defacing, hacking...) 3. Where is your website hosted? at home, at an ISP? Offers the ISP such a service? Is it a Windows or a UNIX system? What software have to run on this software? (less software, more security) Beside this and other considerations, you should start reading and learn about security. General: http://www.w3.org/Security/Faq/www-security-faq.html http://www.rfc-editor.org/ :D for Linux: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Security-HOWTO/ http://www.linuxsecurity.com/content/view/101892/155/ for MS: http://www.microsoft.com/security/default.mspx and you should take to read regularly mailings lists like bugtraq. |
