Question ID: 528156
I am trying to identify the current successor to the law firm Manning,
Harwisch, Hollinger & Shea which operated in New York City in at least the
1950s. The only other information I have is that the Shea of the firm
is William A. Shea for whom Shea Stadium is named.

Any contact information for the current firm would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Brian

Hello research240,

William A. Shea was a founding member of Manning, Hollinger & Shea.
(I did not find a version of the law firm name that included
"Harwisch" or "Harwich."  Perhaps it was briefly part of the name;
such name changes are fairly common in law firms.)

"William A. Shea: Father of the Continental League" (from "Major
Leagues" by David Pietrusza)

Manning, Hollinger & Shea merged with Gallop, Climenko & Gould to form
Shea, Gallop, Climenko & Gould. It later became known as Shea &
Gould. The firm dissolved in 1994.

"Gould, Milton S."

To the extent that this firm has a "successor," it would seem to be
Proskauer Rose, which hired twenty attorneys from Shea & Gould in
1994.

Three attorneys from the former Shea & Gould are still at Proskauer Rose:

HI Research,
as you probably know, law firms come and go. In the second generation,
the partners may not be compatible, new names join the letterhead,
smaller firms are amalgamated into to larger ones and the names
disappear. And probably anyone in the firm then is now retired.

SO: Are you interested in the subsequent developments of MHH&S,
where principals
     later can be found, or the like;
     or are you trying to trace some legal matter (will, trust, ??) that might be
     found in some other way: legal, court archives?

Regards, Myoarin
