Situation: I have a Seagate External 160 Gig HD with USB/Firewire
interface I had exclusively used as a backup for/with a PIII 800MHz
Dell Inspiron 8000, no problem. The Seagate Drive was, I believe,
already formatted, and compatible with the Inspiron's Millenium
Edition (yuck!).
Recently the 6-year-old Dell Inspiron bit the bun & I, tired of
dealing with Microsoft, bought a MiniMac G4,Tiger OS, which I like
very much.
Yesterday I jacked in the Seagate External via Firewire to the
MiniMac, looked @ a few JPGs I had stored, copied some to the MINIMAC,
no prob. However, I also "cropped" 1 of the JPGs and saved it to the
External Drive as a JPG.
There was no problem reading/writing for the rest of the "session",
but when I booted upon the Minimac and the Seagate External next time
I got "This (external) drive is not formatted." :(((
I can't believe writing 2 JPGs across a USB connection would cause the
entire external drive to go format-corrupt.
What tools can I use to recover my family photo collection? |
