I am a single Indian national currently working in the US since April 04 on H-1B status. Prior to that I attended grad school in the US for 2 years. I graduated and started working on my OPT till I got my H1-B approval papers. I have a F-1 stamp on my passport and would like to change that to H-1B during my next visit to Mumbai, India. I would like to go in the next 2~4 weeks if possible. What are my options? Also? 1. What is the next earliest available date at the US embassy in Mumbai. 2. Which forms if any do I need to fill out? 3. How much does the process cost and what are the accepted forms of payment, where do I pay? 4. What are the documents I need to bring along to help ensure a quick turnaround? 5. How long does the process itself take? 6. What are some common mistakes and other general information? 7. I have heard that I can do the stamping in Canada or Mexico faster. Is that correct? If yes how does it work? This is a clean case without any complications so it should be fairly easy to find info on these. |
