where can i go skiing this summer (specifically in july, august or

where you can ski year-round, such as Mount Rainier or Mount Hood. And

Hi teenunicorn,

There's plenty of places to ski in the summer... Here's a sampling
for you to explore.

10 GREAT PLACES TO SKI IN THE SUMMER

Mount Hood, Ore. - The snow never melts on this mountain's Palmer
Snowfield-not a glacier because it's stationary-allowing skiing all
year (except for a brief closure for maintenance in September). A
caveat: You've got to wake up early. "A high-speed chairlift opens at
7 a.m. to access the cold, firm snow and shuts down at 1:30 p.m. as
the surface softens." The resort is ground zero for the U.S. Ski Team
in the summer. 800-547-1406

Tuckerman Ravine, N.H. - Since before World War I, adventurous skiers
have earned their summer turns on the southeast flank of Mount
Washington, where the snowfields often are skiable into July. This is
for serious skiers (there's no lift). "The hike up the ridiculously
steep headwall and then the rocket ride down quickly reveals the gap
between self-image and reality for many skiers." No phone.

Mammoth, Calif. - Holding court high in the Sierra mountains, this
"gigantic romper room delivers acres of expert chutes and steep faces
well into the summer, which is unusual for North American summer
skiing (this year it may close early because of disappointing
weather). Push this mountain hard, and it will push you right back.

skiable terrain in North America with a summit elevation of 13,050
feet.

In Canada, Whistler is a great place for summer skiing:

Let me know if you'd like some on the east coast, since you mentioned
the Pacific Northwest, I concentrated my search there since I live in
Seattle I knew several of these destinations already.

If I can be of further assistance in regards to US skiing destinations
in the summer, please don't hesitate to ask via the "request for
clarification" feature...

If you don't limit yourself to just the USA, try the Southern
Hemisphere - where its WINTER during the summer in the Northern
Hemisphere. Australia and New Zealand have their main skiing season
during July, August and September. The season just opened (June 4,
2005) at Mt.Hutt and is expected to last until October.
