According to President Bush's No Child Left Behind program, there are
monies available to fund the tutoring of students in low-performing
schools or school districts.
Operating a tutoring company, I've been looking all over the gov't web
sites for the "how to's" of this program, but have been more than
frustrated by the runaround.
Question: how do I get involved with this federal program? We have a
good offering and successful record in teaching and tutoring, and want
to grow and help at the same time.
Please supply informative and actionable items to apply for funds /
grants and or other assistance via this program. |

via61-ga,
Glad to hear you're willing to help on an important issue.
I'm a bit familiar with Dept of Ed programs, and there are (to be very
specific) zillions of them, so there's no real simple answer to your
question. How to go about requesting funds is very specific to the
individual program(s) you decide you're most interested in.
A good starting point is right here:
http://web99.ed.gov/GTEP/Program2.nsf
Guide to Education Programs
I'd suggest clicking on the link that reads "By Who May Apply", and
then continuing on through the selection process to see if you can
identify programs that best fit who you are, and what you have to
offer.
For instance, by clicking around a bit, I came across this:
http://web99.ed.gov/GTEP/Program2.nsf/f2cabc788ab665d78525644400514f2f/c19339d5886b5e7885256b98005efa92?OpenDocument
Early Reading First Program
Fiscal Year 2004 -- $94,439,000
Who May Apply (by category): Local Education Agencies, Nonprofit
Organizations, Other Organizations and/or Agencies
Each program listing has detailed contact information at Dept Ed for
more information.
Is that sort of information helpful?

Hi pafalafa,
It looks like you found the same information that I did. Let's say
then, that in the 2nd link we both found (Who May Apply), I could
consider my firm to be in the "Other Organizations" category (whatever
THAT is?).
How then, would I go about the process of application?
