Are there Canadian companies that are experienced with importing goods
form say China that would look after the transaction if you did not
feel comfortable doing so for a fee.Eg.I found a company in China that
makes dolls and I want to get a sample and possibly order 3000 units.I
want to reduce my risk of being ripped off.

You also might consider using the trade service of the Bank of China:

Since you have already identified a supplier and can presumably
negotiate the price and shipping terms (about which the bank may also
be able to help you),
you would probably use a Letter of Credit issued by the bank.  This
assures that the company only gets paid when it presents documents
showing that the goods have been shipped.  The bank can explain the
details.
