Although it proved impossible to locate a portrait of Col. Brooks or a
photograph of his grave, I nevertheless have been successful with the
central task of locating his burial place:
I have found Col. Jehiel Brooks' certificate of death. According to
that document, his place of burial is Rock Creek, where he was buried
on 8 February 1886. This is Jehiel Brook's death certificate, as
provided by the Brooks-Queen Family Collection:

Since Col. Brooks died in his home in Washington D.C., and since the
certificate was issued by the Health Officer of the District of
Columbia, there can be no doubt that the burial place is nearby Rock
Creek Cemetery in Rock Creek, D.C. where, as the family background
reveals, other members of the family were buried, too. Apart from
that, the place of death called "Brooks' County" in the death
certificate is actually the part of Washington D.C. known as
"Brookland" today, and Rock Creek is part of Brookland.
