I located an artist named LUIS CASTELLANOS VALUI at
http://www.galeriaflores.com/Valui.html?998821192540 and would like to
purchase some quality prints or even originals of his work. The
website has yet to respond to emails and the telephone number thru
WHOIS is wrong. I also went to a number of art sites and can't seem to
find any thing about this artist.

My Question.

Where can I get prices and purchase LUIS CASTELLANOS VALUI prints?

Greetings! I have not been able to locate prints by Valui but I have
located other galleries who reference Valui's original works plus a
few more leads for you to try.

A search on the artist's name turned up Gallery Haus Der Kunst. I
found it from an article (translated to English from Spanish) that
read in part (asterisks are mine around artist name, the first listing
with a slightly different spelling than yours):

"In front of the altar is the work of the homenajeado one in this,
Theodor Riedl, that are titled "Life and Death", of gobelino and wool.
This piece comprises of the exhibition of the same name, which is made
up of 19 paintings and one sculpture, of the following artists: David
Birks, Santiago Borja, Sandra Carvajal, **Luis Castilian Valui**,
Alicia Ceballos, Luis Espiridión (sculpture), Judith Gutiérrez, Miguel
Angel Lopez, Arming Meléndez, Enrique Monraz, Francisco Moral, Andrés
Ocrant, Polished Robert, Manuel Ramirez, Jose Silva, Philippa Smith,
Adis Soriano, Carlos Vargas Pons and Ernesto Flowers.

This exhibition will be open until the 16 of November in the Gallery
Haus Der Kunst, located in Brown Pedro 1094."

There is no year date in the article so it may be old. The gallery
email is mail@hausderkunst.de

Also, I located the Chac Mool Gallery which advertised his work on one
site but not their main site (I searched Chac Mool at Google and found
an alternate site because the original where his work was referenced
was a Page Not Found). However by contacting that gallery, you might
be able to find his work:

Information on Galeria Flores, Puerto Valleta which has his work,
written by Marla Hoover:

"The fine art galleries of Marina Vallarta, Arte Del Las Americas,
Puerco Azul, Galeria Em, Galeria Flores, Centigram and the newest
addition, Pladi, present the works of such great artists as Daniel
Palma and his kinetic and ingenious sculpture, made from natural
materials, Melinita Hooper’s colorful and expressive paintings, many
of which depict her favorite theme, “all that is Mexican;” and the
tropical colors and abstract translations painted by local artist,
Brewster Brockmann.

The public also has the opportunity to see the popular work of Luis
Castellano. His lively expressionistic paintings continue to be best
sellers. Octavio Ocampo is also represented--his latest “metamorphic
art,” an ingenious style of optical illusions, painted into his
compositions. Ian Xavier Sanchez gives us his fantastic watercolors,
painted with youthful exuberance and vitality."

Marla also writer and editor for a website called Virtual Vallarta so
you may be able to contact her for further information on Valui's work
(that is why I included the Galeria Flores search links, to show how I
found her). The link to her contact page is below, and here is the
physical contact information for the Virtual Vallarta website:

Marla's bio lists in her current project Vallarta Today - daily
newspaper, Feature Articles, News, Art, Charity
(www.vallartatoday.com) so she seems very familiar with the art world
there. She may be able to locate prints for you that are not listed
online or that are available in the United States.

Should you need clarification, please ask. I believe I have located
all pertinent web information concerning Valui and I hope you are able
to obtain the art for which you are looking.

I continue to search on this question and I decided to try an
incorrect spelling of the name to see what it provided. I searched
"Luis Catellanos Valui" and discovered the following at Mexico.com
under the heading La Palabra.com:

"THREE ARTISTS, THREE LANGUAGES", exhibition of Adrián, Luis
Catellanos Valui and Kuiz Lopez Kalkoatl. Inauguration, 3 of May,
2000, 19:30 hrs, Cultural Center Jesus Kings Heroles, Insipid
Francisco, no. 202."

I found this through using the translation option on the site listing.
I then viewed it in Spanish and got the name "Centro Cultural Jesús
Reyes Heroles" for the cultural center. I then searched that term in
Spanish, translated the page using the translation option, and found
the contact information. They may also be able to assist you in
finding originals or prints:

Heroles)
Insipid Francisco 202 (Francisco Sosa 202)
District of Santa Catarina (Barrio de Santa Catarina)

Another hunch tried: "Luis Castellano" Not sure if this is the same
painter since everywhere I found there were supposed to be images of
his work, they had been removed.

Greetings again, and thank you for your comments. Because you only
provided one gallery name, I didn't know you had pursued leads from
the others, especially the misspelling of the artist's name. I assure
you that had you added the other gallery names to your question I
would have not pursued them with such zeal. : ) If you feel reducing
the fee to $25 is appropriate, I will be in agreement with your
choice. As my customer, I want you to be pleased with your
investment. To reduce the fee, I would suggest you contact Google
Answers with your request, and good luck in obtaining those prints
and/or original works. I have to say I was disappointed not to be
able to view Valui's work online - I am now quite curious as to his
artistic style!

Hello again: I executed more searches on Valui but, unfortunately, I
have discovered no new information on the web concerning where to
purchase his prints or originals. Did you have any luck with the
House of Culture Jesús Reyes Heroles, perhaps finding prints they may
have had available from their exhibition of his work? I hope my
contact for Marla Hoover proved helpful as well, as she seems familiar
with the galleries in Puerto Vallarta.

Although my actual desire was not met as stated by the answer

"Greetings! I have not been able to locate prints by Valui but"

I do believe the researcher did make a good effort. I had already
pursued most of the leads that were given by the researcher with no
success.

I believe that with the help of my Spanish speaking wife we are on the
right track at this time. I researched to discover a neighboring
business to the Galleria Florez and we contacted them. It turns out
that the reason they have not responded to emails is because they are
on an extended vacation and will return in a couple weeks.

I don't know how to go about it but would like to approve half the fee
($25 of $50)for the effort but not the full amount as my actual
question went unanswered. Please let me know if you think thats fair.

Thanks

Hi

I also did some research on your question.

I sent this e-mail on August 10th to galflores@pvnet.com.mx inquiring
about the artist and his paintings.

“Queria saber si ustedes venden o tienen algún dato de como comprar
los cuadros o reproducciones de Luis Castellanos Valuí.
Gracias de antemano”

Today I received the answer from Pam and Fernando.

“Gracias por escribir.,
Por el momento estamos en Tepoztlan Morelos y la galería reabre
octubre 8. Mientras, te mando la dirección de nuestra pagina
web....esperamos que te guste y no dejes de escribirnos para darnos tu
opinión.
LA DIRECCION ES: http://www.galeriaflores.com
Atentamente
Pan & Fernando
Galeria Flores”

I trust your wife can translate the above since you mentioned she
knows Spanish.

As they do have paintings by Valui on their Website, I am sure they
must sell them as well. It would be a good idea to write to Pam and
Fernando on October 8th inquiring for the prices of the paintings.

Good Luck
