I am seeking a guide that would be called something like 'liberal/
progressive places to live in the U.K.'

I am English and, having spent a few years living abroad, am
considering a return to the U.K. In want to live in the countryside,
preferably near forests, but with progressive, healthy alternative
people around. This seems like a difficult combination to find. I have
been hearing a lot about Totnes and also of course the Brighton area.
I'd ideally like to be near to my family, who live in not so
progressive Norfolk, but that might not be possible.

There must be a web site where one can enter things that are
important, eg 'alternative, progressive, forests' etc and it comes up
with some suggestions. I have seen a similar site for the U.S.
(findyourspot.com) but not for the U.K.

I would like some suggestions for such guides on the internet or in
print, or alternatively a detailed list of suggestions that fit my
criteria (i.e. alternative, progressive, healthy, liberal, spiritual,
forests).

Of course this is subjective, but having grown up in Norfolk I know
that some places fit this description more than others. I suppose that
areas around sacred sites such as Glastonbury would be a place to start. I
am seeking an answer from the perspective of someone living in the UK rather
than a tourist or traveller.
