I need to know the average cost of single family housing units,
including what portion of the cost is land cost, in various urban and
rural markets/cities in
the United States. I'm not too particular on which markets, a sample
listing is below. I need about 25-50 cities from various areas in the
U.S. If you can find a resource that includes this information I'd
appreciate knowing where it is, especially if it is available via the
internet.

CA	El Monte
CA	Santa Ana
OR	Portland
TX	Dallas
NY	Buffalo
OH	Columbus
WI	Milwaukee

The current Atlantic (Jul-Aug 05), pp. 48-49 has a map that points to an answer.

The CA sites are 'highly overpriced'.

Portland, Milwaukee and Buffalo are merely 'overpriced'.

Dallas and Columbus are 'underpriced'.

The two most overpriced are Las Vegas and metro Washington DC.

Syracuse, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Boise are the 4 most 'highly underpriced'.
