We have a vintage women's coat, in perfect condition, from Royal India
Tailors. The label reads: "Exclusively hand made by Royal India
Tailors, 51-52 Haiphong Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong" with a logo
featuring a capital "R" with a crown above it. There is also a label
inside the front of the coat that reads, in stitching, "Helen Thompson
3491". The satin quilt lining of the coat has a design or a symbol
stitched into it (Can we send you a picture of all of this via
e-mail?). We would like to know about Royal India Tailors,
specifically if they are still in business, and whether they could be
commissioned by the royal family of England (hence the use of the word
"Royal" in the name), perhaps as tailors to the Queen. Also, what is
the significance of the woman's name and the number 3491? Would this
be the woman who designed or sewed the coat? Or could it be the name
ofthe woman the coat was created for?

It is extremely unlikely that "Royal India Tailors" supplied clothing
to the Queen or other members of the royal family. The word royal in
the name is not an indication of this.

The company apparently still exists, however, as I discovered with a
search on the name. Since I could only access the site from the
cache, I have copied the Hit on it:

Association of Better Business & Tourism Services - Governing ...
... Mrs Grace Lee Deputy Executive Director, DED Office Hong Kong Tourism Board.
Mr Larry Parmanand Managing Director Royal India Tailors. ...
www.bbtshk.com/council/council.php - 32k - Zusätzliches Ergebnis - Im Cache

The site only shows, however, Larry Parmanand as a board member of the association.

The eighth item on page two of this site shows a vintage coat and
dress made by the company:

Good luck, Myoarin
