Hi lacasaturner,

Thank you for an interesting question.

Mice Nesting In My Car
http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf384083.tip.html

"I just found out that there are mice nesting in my car, inside the
seat. Other than mothballs, are there any other suggestions for
ridding my car of this problem? The repair shop is cleaning out the
nest, but they warned me that mice tend to return to rebuild their
nests. Any ideas for preventing their return?"

"I have heard that putting crumpled up aluminum foil in a mouse hole
keeps them in their place so maybe you could try putting several
pieces of crumpled up foil in the area where they nested."

"Mice don't like peppermint. If you could get some peppermint oil and
put it in your car on a cotton balls it will drive them away!:)"

"Mice hate the scent of peppermint extract. Simply sprinkle *pure*
peppermint extract [...] A friend of mine has used this in the
interior of his antique car as well as on it's upholstery and never
had a problem. It needs to be repeated monthly."

Mice in my Motor Vehicle Testimonials - Shake-Away
http://www.critter-repellent.com/mice-1/test/mice-test-motor-vehicle.htm

"We have a car tent. We found that it was impossible to seal it tight.
The mice moved in, and made nests in the vehicle and the other
equipment stored there. We used Shake-Away around the inside perimeter
of the tent and that ended any sign of mice. Hooray!"

"We are working at a campground in Northern California for the summer.
Last year we were here for the summer and trapped 86 field mice in our
bays in our motorhome. We read about your Shake-Away in an RV magazine
and tried it and it works! No mice!"

"I had a problem with mice while camping in my RV. I then tried
putting Shake-Away in Zip-Lock bags with small holes in the top of the
bags. Using a small wire hook, I hang a bag on each wheel. VOILA ? no
more problem with mice. When I am done camping, I put the bags in a
larger plastic bag and they are ready for the next trip."

"try a "victor tin cat", its the best one i've come across so far"

"We have a couple of traps which I think are also sold by Victor. They
are basically a little box that closes when the critter goes to the
back to get the peanut butter. Then you take it somewhere and let it
go."

catches mice alive and unharmed so they can be released outdoors. Be
sure to check the trap frequently, so mice won't suffer needlessly.

relocation. We will enclose our Humane Control of Mice and Rats tip
sheet with every order. Peta

Do you need it stay alive? Where is located? Stick shift or automatic?

No, we do not need it to stay alive. We think that there might be a
nest with "babies" as well--we just don't want any dead mice stinking
up the car! Also, we can't for the life of us figure out how they got
in there, but the are crawling around in the air conditioning vent! :)
It's an automatic.

I just paid a bunch of money to fix what 2 mice did to my car. They
got into the fan compartment and built a nest. Unfortunately I've had
this problem before -- I tried mothballs and they do not work. The
mechanic told me to get a cat.
Next I'll try downy dryer sheets...(Can I use other brands?)
and peppermint oil. And maybe some Shake Away.
Do the electronic noise devices work?
