Question ID: 53049
I just purchased my first car, a Mercedes Benz C280. I cannot figure
out how to "preset" a radio station. There are about 6 buttons that
have stations already assigned to them, but I do not know how to
preset new stations. There is nothing in the manual about the sound
system, and this is very important to me. Thank you in advance.

Quite a few modern car radios use the same technique for setting the
radio stations. Simply tune to a desired station, then depress one of
the preset selection buttons and hold it for 5 to 10 seconds until the
new selected station "takes".

You might try this to see if it works for you.

And I just came across this, though I am unsure if your model is
similar:

"Setting pre-set stations is the fun part; the E320 comes with a
telephone keypad for the built-in, hands-free telephone, and the
keypad doubles as the radio pre-set buttons"

Hello kseiler,

Have you had a chance to test my suggestions?

What I have found is that there appear to be two types of radio
installed as factory equipment in newer Merecedes automobiles. If
yours does not have the telephone keypad for the built-in, hands-free
telephone, then most likely presets are programmed by depressing a
preset button and keeping it depressed for at least 5 seconds. There
should be an audible "beep" when the newly selected station has been
set.

One of the the Mercedes specific chat boards mentions that if this
does not work properly, you should remove the fuse to the radio at the
fuse block for a few minutes, then replace it and re-try.

If this works for you, please reply and I will post this as a final
answer.
