The fox is a common enough heraldic device, and the answer might be on
a coat of arms.

You can find him all over:

How do you find a noble fox? I would start with a Google search and
then move on to the House of Lords.

Hello.

The answer might be in this book: "Tallyho, Pinkerton" which you can
find on Amazon, and you can search inside it too.

http://us.penguingroup.com/nf/Book/BookDisplay/0,,0_0142300101,00.html

"Pinkerton's young owner has to identify different birds and mammals
for homework. So, she and her mother set off for the woods with
Pinkerton and Rose. There they run into a group from the Hunting
Academy, out in search of the noble fox. The craziness begins when the
hunters mistake Rose for a fox, and charge after her. And where is
Pinkerton? He is making friends with a red bird while drifting
overhead in a hot air balloon."

I find myself if wondering if the person asking you the riddle said
"noble" or "novel." The reason I ask is, if the word is novel, then
this is a variant on the special rabbit riddle.

How do you catch a special rabbit? Unique on it.

How do you catch a tame rabbit? The tame way.

likewise

How do you catch a NOVEL (syn: special) fox? Unique up on it.

How do youi catch a tame fox? The tame way.

Failed to mention:

Other variants of the joke are: special dog, special cat, etc.

I had thought of the "unique" variation, but it was definitely Noble.
Thanks!

Whistle "God save the Queen". If the fox stands up and bows - or the
vixen courtesies - you've found him/her.

If that doesn't work, I would argue that all foxes are noble.
Has anyone ever heard or read about an ignoble fox?
