It is an old movie about a boy who's mother dies of some kind of
fever. His little sister dies from eating raw grain. The boy puts each
of his brothers and sisters on a sled and goes door to door asking
people to adopt them. The last of the movie shows him walking away
alone through the snow. I believe it was a black and white movie.
Please help with title, actors. Thanks!

I am certain that you are remembering "All Mine to Give," (also known
as "The Day They Gave Babies Away"). This is a touching film released
in 1957 which contains the exact plot details that you describe. I
remember crying my eyes out the first time I saw this movie.

"All Mine to Give is the true saga of a Scottish immigrant couple who
die and leave their 12-year-old son struggling to find homes for his
five younger brothers and sisters."

"Husband gets fever and dies. Wife gets fever and dies, but before,
tells oldest son what to do with his brothers and sisters and the
families they should go to. On Christmas Day ('the day no one can
refuse') the oldest son takes his siblings to different families and
asks they take a child he selects (per his mothers dying wishes). You
need a tissue box for this one."

"All Mine to Give" is not currently being produced on DVD or VHS.
Older, used VHS copies are occasionally available. Here are a few

"All Mine to Give" is often shown on television around Christmastime,
so if you aren't able to get a copy soon, you may see it on TV in a
few months.
