Hi blissgirl,

"Dr. Condoleezza Rice (born November 14 , 1954) became Assistant to
the President for National Security Affairs , commonly referred to
asthe National Security Advisor, on January 22 , 2001 , under
President George W. Bush . She is the second black (after Colin Powell
) and first female holder of the office. Rice is single and has never
been married."

Anoca.org Encyclopedia
http://www.anoca.org/her/she/condoleezza_rice.html

"...Secretary Rice has never run for elective office, and clearly, her
candidacy would be groundbreaking in several ways: she is African
American, she is a woman, and she has never been married (James
Buchanan in 1856 is America's only elected bachelor President). She
would be the first major party Presidential candidate since Eisenhower
not to have held prior elective office. Of course, Ike won decisively
his first time up, and by an even more decisive margin when he ran for
re-election in 1956. Most importantly, Rice has not yet given any
signal whatsoever that she is entertaining the notion of running in
2008 or thereafter."

The American Thinker
http://www.americanthinker.com/articles_print.php?article_id=4289

"As national security adviser for four years, Ms Rice has been
indispensable and constantly available. She has no other life, has
never married and a handful of dates with eligible men organised by
well-meaning friends have led nowhere romantically.

She spends many of her weekends at Camp David with the president,
watching baseball and football and doing jigsaws with the first
family. Her only time off appears to be occasional sessions playing
the piano with a classical music group in Washington."

Guardian Unlimited
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1352946,00.html

"Her mother died of breast cancer in 1985 and her father passed away
on Christmas Eve, 2000. She has never married though she was
reportedly once engaged to a professional football player. The author
of three political science books, she has received numerous awards and
honors for her achievements..."

Please let me know if the above information is sufficient verification
that Condoleezza Rice has not had a divorce since she has never been
married. Also, if you believe this suffices as an answer to your
question, let me know and I will post it as an official answer.

Best regards,
Rainbow

Hi blissgirl,

I located the name of the Denver Broncos football player whom
Condoleeza Rice dated. However, there is no mention of them ever
having been married. Would this player's name suffice as an answer to
your question?

Best regards,
Rainbow

All sources that I found say that she is unmarried:
"...There's a catch. Rice is single. There hasn't been an unmarried
candidate for president or vice-president in modern times. This
shouldn't matter, but it might. In the hideously invasive world of
today's press, Rice's private life might be scrutinized in ways she
would rightly find intolerable. But knowing Bush, this wouldn't stop
him. He picks the people he wants - against conventional wisdom.
Everyone forgets how controversial a choice Dick Cheney was. In 2004,
the shock could be exponentially larger.

Condoleezza Rice was a doctoral student in the mid 1970's at the U. of
Denver and had dated several players with the Denver Broncos. She
became engaged to one player, wedding plans were made, then she
abruptly canceled them. She keeps her personal life extremely private.
But at her confirmation hearings with the Senate Foreign Relations
committee, a young, well dressed, very fit black woman sat behind her.
Not part of any security detail.

Condoleezza Rice, probably a polymath, did her undergraduate and
doctoral studies in political science at the U. of Denver, with an MA
at Notre Dame. She was a protegee of Madeleine Albright's father,
chair of the dept. at U. of Denver. She is an accomplished pianist,
fluent in several languages including Russian. The stories about
dating NFL players and her more recent displays of fashion are a
carefully crafted beard. She is not, shall we say, the marrying type.
