Dear Egmont,

This is a very interesting question. However,
(1) How would you define "media" (books included? all Internet sites
are "media"? etc.) ;
(2) How would you measure revenue in Third World countries, or
countries with centralised economies (e.g., USSR)?

Since I doubt there's a database referring exactly to yoru question,
that would probably mean going through each year, for each medium.
Perhaps, defining these two issues would help Researchers answer your
question.

We can define world as "developed world" i.e. Western Europe, North
America and some Asian countries (those where data is available). If
you could find data for Western Europe alone it would be fine. Data
for Nordic countries alone would be even better.

Included in the data should be:

Television & Radio Broadcasting
Cable Television
Filmed Entertainment
Recorded Music
Newspaper Publishing
Book Publishing
Magazine Publishing
Video & PC Games
Internet Advertising
Business Information Services (optional)
