Dear jimen-ga: Based on your statement that the question has been answered to your satisfaction I am reposting my information here in order to officially close your question: I believe the "McGinty's goat" she was referring to is Patrick "Paddy" McGinty's goat - a problemmatic animal mentioned in several bits of humorous poetry and song that originated in Ireland. Paddy McGinty's Goat http://www.alba-pipe-band.de/Liedertexte/Paddy_McGintys_Goat.html One fun version of the popular pub song was written by the prolific English team of Bob Weston and Bert Lee and recorded by an Irishman from Waterford, Val Doonican. In fact, McGinty's Pub Carvery at Ivory's Hotel in Waterford is named after Doonican's song - and in a sense, I suppose, his goat too. DOONICAN http://members.dodo.com.au/~lorriespiderwebb/valdoonican.htm IVORY'S HOTEL http://www.irelandhotel.biz/ivorys/index.asp I look forward to next time. Regards; tutuzdad-ga |
