I am currently in the sixth month of a year long co-op with a small
engineering company. We are located in Annapolis, MD, which is about
an hour drive outside of Washington DC. I don't know if you meant
Washington state or DC, but anyway, there will be internship openings
starting in December. Email me for more info.

Have you tried contacting any firms local to you? I know a lot of
firms do that sort of thing.
