Answers Community,
I'm looking for a homerun here - I'm currently studying for the
October administration of the LSAT and I have to score exceptionally
well. I've been looking into the prep courses in Austin (Kaplan,
Princenton Review, Testmasters - called ScorePerfect in Texas,
Powerscore, House of Tutors, and private instructors), but I cannot
decide which is better. I need a good, definitive answer on what will
best prepare me. Price is not so much a factor as is quality of
instruction (yes, I am willing to go broke).
Here's what I've found so far:
- A general consensus that Scoreperfect and Powerscore are much
better than Kaplan and Princeton Review.
- No discernable differences between Scoreperfect and Powerscore's
pitch. I have used Powerscore's Logic Games Bible and Logical
Reasoning Bible and found both to be excellent. Scoreperfect, on the
other hand, does not release it's books and actually sues people that
try to resell said books. So that makes it hard for me to go with SP
since I cannot test what I'm buying. Also, I've read that Testmasters
is only good if it's in LA with the founder, Robin Singh.
- For all courses (Kap, PR, SP, PS, etc) I've read that everything
depends on the instructor you get. If true, how do I vet those
people? Can I call them or meet them? How do I prove that they
actually did as well as they say on the LSAT and that they can teach?
- For private instructors, I've only found one in Austin, through
Craigslist, named Charles Roadman. I've met him and he seems credible
and intelligent but highly expensive ($125 an hour). Is private the
way to go on the LSAT?
- Is my research off? Are there are other programs/instructors (not
online/telephonic) that I should evaluate?
So to recap: what is the single best course of study (prep
course/private instruction) to take in Austin?
I appreciate the help!
