Hello Sharon42,
I'm so glad I could help you. You are right, if you wanted to buy a
ready-made box online you would certainly find plenty to chose from
but instructions on building your own were difficult to find! My
first thought was the Christopher Lowell Show on the Discovery
Channel, since he is forever building small boxes. Surprisingly, I
didn't find instructions on his site. The DoItYourself Network was no
help either. However, I was able to locate detailed online
instructions for you from Amateur Woodworker, April 1998. The plan is
for a small game box, and the instructions are clear enough that you
could easily adapt them to your desired dimensions.

If you wanted to explore the topic more, Woodsmith magazine offers old
copies of their magazine which you can order online. You can
purchase, for $4.99, a back issue of Woodsmith magazine where one of
the featured projects is a Slide Top Box.
