Question ID: 532817
I have an Epson R2400 printer that has to be hooked up to a PC. I
also have a wireless network with a Mac PowerBook running 10.4.1
connected to it. How can I print thru the PC to the printer? I've
looked for a GIMP driver for the R2400 but its new.

How can I get my PowerBook to print on the Epson?

The Epson 802.11g wireless printserver is supported for use with the
R2400. That would let the printer be a network printer accessable by
either a PC or a MAC. According to the product literature, Status
Monitor 3 works over the network, so you can monitor ink levels and
get alert messages, just as if it were a local printer.

Thanks, but what would I set the printer up as? I believe OS X
requires me to tell it what kind of printer it is and there is no
network printer profile for the R2400.

I think its a printer driver issue rather than a hardware one.

You can check out the documentation on the Epson web site. I'm not a
Mac person. On Windows, you create a local TCP/IP port, then
configure the printer as though it were local. For MAC they say it
supports Rendezvous for OS 10, but have a number of protocols
supported under AppleTalk as well. It should work, and they specify
they support both MACs and Windows for the R2400 printer.
