I am looking for an old song I liked when I was a child. The song goes
like this [I may have the words wrong :-) ]-

"Oorapa ronald blama, I am just a bird in the sky
.........
When the sun shines up the mountain,
When the night is on the run,
Its a new day, its a new way,
as you ... to the sun... " etc.

Can you help locate the song for me? Any standard format (MP3/WAV etc)is fine.
It would be great if I have the lyrics also.

Dear Kurian-ga
You've brought back memories from my childhood! I always thought of
this as a holiday song.
It's 'Una Paloma Blanca'. It was sung by Slim Whitman and the George
Baker Selection to name just two. It can be downloaded from
http://www.buffnet.net/~ambrosia/page7.htm .
It is about two thirds of the way down the page.

Here are the lyrics:

When the sun shines
on the mountain
And the night is on the run
It's a new day
It's a new way
And I fly up to the sun

I can feel the
morning sunlight
I can smell the
new moon haze**
I can hear God's
voice is calling
For my golden sky light way

Una paloma blanca
I'm just a bird in the sky
Una paloma blanca
Over the mountains I fly
No one can take my freedom away

Once I had my share of losing
for they locked me on a chain
Yes they tried to break my power
oh I still can feel the pain

Una paloma blanca
I'm just a bird in the sky
Una paloma blanca
Over the mountains I fly
No one can take my freedom away

Una paloma blanca
I'm just a bird in the sky
Una paloma blanca
Yodel outro]

I knew it was blanca so:

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Great work!! Thanks for the quick response.

I had downloaded the song from the like you suggested -
http://www.buffnet.net/~ambrosia/page7.htm, the song is the same, but
my childhood memories say that the song was more lively... more
upbeat. Where can I find the original sung by George Baker? any
possible links to other versions? :-)

Thanks a ton!! Great Job.

Sorry Kurian I have been unable to track down the George Baker version
from a 'reliable' source. I tried a three russian sites but my
computer locked up and didn't like what was being downloaded, so I
won't recommend those sites,
George Baker has his own site at http://www.georgebaker.com/ but the
links page did not offer any help.

Two different midi instrumentals of "La Paloma Blanca" can be
downloaded from these sites:

http://www.freundeskreisnordkurve.de/downloads.htm

http://www.pnaathome.net/music/

Nothing can equal the Slim Whitman version that answerfinder-ga turned
up, though!
