Hello, i would like a service where i could upload a file that could
be 30mb-300mb and share it with people who can download it. I play
World of Warcraft and i enjoy making videos of me in action, i would
like to upload these videos and share them on the forums for example.
I would like to have lots of bandwidth and lots of space, i could
build my own website but i have no idea how and where to start. I am
also intrested in having it protected by a password for examlpe i
would like to upload 2 videos lets say both are 100mb in size but i
would like for people to be able to download 1 while the other would
have a password and only close friends can download. I would like to
be able to to see how much bandwidth is being used. The reason why i
am posting this here is that i have never done anything like this
before and would want a clear way of doing so.

I dont mind spending money on this but i would like a few options with
the price, i dont mind advertising.

P.s. i am working on a mac computer so some softwares might not be avilable.

Hi there,

Web design and renting servers with very large amount of bandwidth can
be quite expensive. Could you please let us know your budget (for
initial investment to build the site and for subsequent monthly fees
to rent the server)so that I could help you better?

Cheers,
Tox-ga

http://www.0catch.com has several hosting packages
starting at 6.95/month.I have one there ,their prices are competitive.
You can up grade or down grade any time. The packages range from $6.95/month to
$14.95 a month wich will give you 60 gig of bandwidth and unlimated daily
bandwidth with 1 gig of disk storrage. Aditional bandwith can be purchased.
You mentioned having private and public access, well any vidio you drop into
your "_private" folder will require a user name and password to get in.
You can add user names and passwords for viewing them, this will give you the
option to allow temporary visitors while your close friends/family can have
another permanent access. There are a lot of options, too many to mention.
I have called their tec line for help many times, and if you create a mess
with it, get help.(they also have a forum page). The log in page has a
lot of info for domain names and much more. Set up a free account to
check it out.
The free account is filled with popup's that will get on your nerves fast!
You can view the packages at: http://info.0catch.com/hosting_packages
<a href="http://info.0catch.com/hosting_packages">http://info.0catch.com/hosting_packages
</a> or the home page at: http://0catch.com/ (0catch the #0 is not a
letter). You can create blank html pages at the site to fill in. You
can also use microsoft frount page to upload your pages. Call for more
info: 1 888 401 4678 If this is your first time at this, it can get
confusing.
Maby somewone has a better idea for you to approach this, good luck.

Advanced Web Hosting Plans are designed for sites receiving large
quantities of traffic and large traffic spikes. These web hosting
plans are Perfect for high traffic business and personal sites:
http://www.brontobytes.com/web_hosting/advanced_web_hosting_plans.htm

You can check you Bandwidth and Disk space usage from cPanel.

Preinstalled scripts can be autoinstalled via the control panel.
Installation takes seconds and can be performed by novices without the
need of setting up MySQL databases, importing structure, chmoding
files and without the need of other tasks usually associated with
installations:

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Nicolas

Well, I have microsoft FrontPage 2003, but never use it. You might
want to learn how to use it and I can send it to you.

PS - I used KaZaA to download it with a serial #, and I believe the
serial # I used was a crack, and it expired right after I used it.

The website that I know of is NearlyFreeSpeech.net
(http://www.nearlyfreespeech.net). Their pricing is pretty simple -
you pay $1 for every 1GB of data transfer and $.01 for every 1MB of
data storage. So if you hosted two 100mb files, you would pay $2 for
storage. If those files got downloaded 14 times each (14x200mb =
2800mb = 2.8gb) you would pay around $3 that month.

And unlike other hosting services, you only pay for what you use - if
you use less space and less data transfer, you pay less. This is
different from a hosting service that offeres 10GB for $10/month,
because if you only use 5GB you are paying $2 per GB, and if you only
use 1GB, you are paying $10 per GB, etc.

They have password protected directories (so only your friends can
access certain files) and you can set-up an unlimited amount of those
with your account at no extra cost. They have very friendly support
team, so if you run into any trouble, just write then an email.

oh, and don't be fooled by the plain look of their website. This is
from their FAQ -
Q: Do you design web pages?
A: No. Have you seen our web page? We like to stick to what we're good
at, which is hosting sites, not creating them.

Cheers

Hello there,
I guess u have already understood that the task is not very easy...
thousands of Web Hosts to choose from, uploading files, forums,
etc, etc. The best way I will advise is:
1) Start with an average space and average bandwidth.
2) There are many sites with this (shared hosting).
3) I recomend you go with a good provider who also serves dedicated
servers (may be u'll require them in a distant future).
4) Gradually increase your plan as u require. That way ull be secured
at the beginning as initial investment is smaller.
5) Forums are easily available with almost all good Hosting Prividers
and The Control Panel will enable you to view your usage.
Some hosts I heard of:
www.aplus.net(domain and host) - dedicated and shared host available
www.hostdpartment.com - shared host available, dedicated comin
www.servermatrix.com - dedicated

There are many other reliable dedicated hosting providers. Just drop
in your query at a hosting forum and ull get all the answers.
Cool
Bye
Bye
