You have explain the lac-operon very good and it has made me look into more subtile area of proteins. I use to ask you to tell me about purification of proteins, but know since i have a better view of proteins, i have a more complex question. Here's the question. Please comment about what researher's research about when they are studying certain area of a protein such as Cytochrome C. What i am trying to say is, if i wanted to publish some reseach on some area in a area in a protien, what are some area i would do resrach on. I hope you can see what i am trying to say. I am looking for some area that i can look at. Something different then protein purification. I am sure there is a lot area to look at, please suggest sme to consider. | |

Lets see... The most interesting part of a protein from a structure - function relationship are any and all functional domains. These are "regions" of the protein which confer some sort of function...ie: DNA binding, ligand binding sites, enzymatic regions etc. Try a blast search of the protein of interest, and take a look at the characterized domains. Also, membrane spanning/binding regions are of great interest as this can effect the localization of the protein. Basically the entire package is interesting - it depends on what exactly you want to study. If you are interested in enzymatics, structural biochemistry, etc... |
