Question ID: 53357
I got a QuickCam Pro at a garage sale, but it didn't come with a cd.
I've already got the QuickCam software, but I need the driver for it.
Is there a location where I can find just the drivers for the USB
QuickCam Pro (Dark Focus Ring) for Windows 98 (not the 20MB software
package from Logitech)?

Hello digitalelegance-ga,

Thank you for your question.

It appears mentioned in some driver chat groups that Logitech does not
provide the USB driver by itself. That being said, I found the
following by searching for "Quickcam Pro" + USB +driver.

The first location I found is http://66.197.187.241/misc.htm where you
will find it in the middle of the page:

Logitech QuickCam vc Usb
Windows 98/Me/2000/XP

This is a 238KB file.

I checked the header of the .inf file to find:

*********
; CXCAP.INF
;
; (c) Copyright 1996-1999 Logitech Inc, All Rights Reserved
;
; Installation script for the Logitech QuickCam / QuickClip product
line
; USB and Parallel Video for Windows Capture Drivers
;
;************************************************************************************************************

So this appears to be the proper driver. The information in the .inf
file also clearly shows that the Quickcam Pro. You can install this by
unzipping to a convenient directory, then right clicking the .inf file
and choosing install.

Then, http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2348-2819172.html?tag=lst-0-3
shows a 9.6MB file for Logitech QuickCam Pro 4.1.5. The description
says:

Description

This update from Logitech fixes Black Screen and Fatal Exception
errors and colored dots, or "Christmas Tree lights" in images captured
from the camera.
Please confirm your product selection with the camera photo,
description, and part number. This software is specific to the
QuickCam Pro USB part number 1049-800-010 and QuickCam Pro Parallel
part number 1049-630-001. Check the readme file before installing.

Then, http://www.my-driver.com/driver.phtml?dp_drid=1140&dp_plid=85
has a 13.4 MB download specific to the Quickcam Pro with "Dark Focus
Ring".

All of these are less in size than the 20MB file you had located. I
believe the first listed driver at only 238KB should work for you,
however it can be uninstalled if it does not and you can then use one
of the larger files to obtain your driver.

Please let me know if you require any clarification.
