Question ID: 533901
A follow up to a previous question. I would like a comprehensive
spreadsheet consisting of the most popular restaurants, bars (clubs
and lounges included), sights & tourist attractions(museums included
as a sight), and stores and shops.
I would ask for the top 100 restaurants, top 100 bars, 20 sights, and
75 stores and shops.
For each city (listed below) i would need NAME, ADDRESS, CROSS STREET,
NEIGHBORHOOD, TYPE(s) of place. The reason i mention type or types is
that many places will say either pizza and italian (one is sufficient
but of course, the more the better)

San Francisco
Chicago
Miami
LA
Washginton DC
Las Vegas
Paris
London

Hi!

Are all these components very strict requirements?

a.) cross street
b.) the exact number of restaurants, bars, sights and shops

The reason I ask is that as we go along, some of these might not have
exact listings like the top 75 stores but could actually be less. An
example would be I found a top 10 of museums in San Francisco but not
a top 20.

Thanks!

I don't mean top 75 necessarily, but rather an aggregate of the most
popular 75 restaurants. It may have to come from different lists. I
know top 10 lists are out there but I am looking to have at least
these numbers. For instance, if you are looking for the top 20 sights
in San Francisco you know the top museums but add alcatraz, nob hill,
goden gate bridge, etc (tripadvisor has some stuff)- there are at
least 20 attractions. This would be the same for restaurants and
bars. All of these are major cities so these numbers are relatively
low.
The cross street is not necessary but would certainly be beneficial.

Hi again!

In the category "top shops", are you looking for the shopping
districts or the shops themselves? If districts we maybe able to cover
a lot of ground but we will be limited by the number of the districts.

Ex. San Francisco - "Union Square"

Clarification of Question by bailey111-ga on 16 Jun 2005 15:11 PDT
I think we are going to go with top shops rather than districts. I
know some places like chains might pop up, but there should be alot
out there.
I know this might cover alot of areas but just do your best judgement.
Thanks.

Hi!

I would like to ask if you require that a spreadsheet be made at this
point or would simple links to listing will be enough. I asked this
since in some of your past questions, links were enough.

Another reason I asked about this is that assembling and modifying a
list would probably provide copyright problems here at Google Answers
since such lists will be coming from websites and will also be
publicly available here.

I have the following solutions.

1. The lists I was able to find are available as tables and you can
just import them to excel.

2. The only problem with number 1 is that the detailed address isn't
available in the table and must be inserted individually by clicking
on the name links of the restaurants, attractions, bars or shopping
places.

Is this ok with you?

3. I can provide you with the instructions on how to import to excel the tables.

4. I now have all the lists you required as stated in your question.

Will this be ok with you?

Thanks!

unfortunatey it won't work. Another researcher was going to put the
excel list on their server.
I would rather not do the research myself. I am sure i have seen the
links you would be sending me to, and since they are incomplete with
addresses it makes the research info incomplete. I do not want to go
through every link and add addresses to each and every one. I was
hoping to get the links and the spreadsheet. I know the information is
out there it was putting it together that I am looking for.

if you want to show me an example, if you feel i am not grasping this,
then that is find. But pointing me in the direction of yahoo travel
is not what i am looking for.

Hi again bailey111-ga!

I understand the tediousness of the work of custting and pasting each
and every and address in the file.

In the websites, I found (No not Yahoo), once you click the name of
the restaurant for example, you will immediately be taken to the
address.

Let me give you the details of my findings:

a. Restaurants - We immediately have (Restaurant Name, Cuisine Type
and Neighborhood info like for example Union Square)

b. Stores - (Store Name & Category)

c. Attractions and Bars - Attraction and Bar Name only.

All have single click access to physical addresses.

Will this be ok?

Thanks!

Hi Bailey111-ga,

I have reviewed your requirements for this question which was posted
as a follow-up to your last question I answered. I'll start working on
compiling information and then I'll come back here and if it's not
answered yet, I'll check to see if it's ok with you before I put in
the Excel file you wanted.

To easterangel, i don't think that this is going to work as you said.
It still seems the same whereas I have to clcik through to get each
address. That's not really what I am looking for, especially since
each category you mention fulfills a couple of the requirements.
The excel sheet would work best nenna witht he info I am paying for...let me know...

Hi Bailey111-ga,

I am working on this, but due to the fact I had major surgery last
week, it'll take me a bit longer than normal to complete. I need to
get my rest too! I'll report back every few days and let you know how
it's coming. As of right now, I have one whole city done. I'll also
pop back here if I need a question answered to clarify.

Wow - hope your are doing well and feeling better. Thanks, good to
know you are working on it. If you could let me know how long it's
taking you per city, it could give me a better idea with some other
planning I have to do. Especially for a follow up. Not trying to
pressue at all, just looking to do a little srategic planning.
Thanks. Get your rest and feel better!

Hi,

I'm guessing about 3 days per city. I've got the first one almost
done. I hope that helps.

I am on the road to recovery, and it feels good to be back working again!

Hi Bailey111-ga,

We're not allowed to post an answer until it is complete. Otherwise we
could claim the price, and never respond with the rest of the answer.
I'll have your answer to you before your question expires. It's just
taking a lot of time to get it done due to the fact it's hard to sit
so long in front of the screen after abdominal surgery. Thanks for
checking in!

Hi again,

Just wanted to update you on progress.

Looks like this will be finished on the 15th for you Bailey111-ga.
Sorry it's taken the full month, but I'm finally to the point I can
sit here at the my desk for long periods of time, so the last 3 cities
should not take that long.

Thanks for your patience!
