I am looking for some jokes and quotes about autism to use to make
bumper stickers and pins as a fund raiser. I know autism is no joking
matter, and that the prospect of a joke will offend some people, but I
would like some light-hearted slogans. Something along the line of
"Dyslexics of America Untie" - only for autism. I will also consider
ones that are not necessarily humorous, but thought provoking - like
"sooner or later autism affects all of us." As I have posted a pretty
good payment, I will consider a good answer one that includes at least
five suitable slogans.
Thanks

Hello again, nkamom!

Here are five slogans I found on the Web:

======================================================================

THE PROBLEM IS UNDERSTANDING

"The Problem is Understanding was the slogan for the National Autistic
Society's 40th year in 2002."

ACLearn: Technology and Autistic Spectrum Disorders

======================================================================

I AM NOT SICK, I AM SPECIAL

The Business Center Celebrates World Autism Day
'I am not sick, I am special.'
This was the touching slogan for this year?s Autism Day Celebration
held at the King Khalid Hospital?s main Entrance, Jeddah on April
4,2005. The Business Center under the supervision of Dr Mohammad
Al-Dakhil, Regional Director, Business Center participated in the
exhibit attended by The Saudi Autistic Society, Markaz Al-Ri?ayah
w?alhanan and some representatives from the Ministry of Education
and a number of Early Education supplies and Learning centers."

THINK AUTISM. THINK CURE.

"Band together for autism with NAA's Think Autism Wristband. Molded
with puzzle pieces and the NAA slogan, 'Think Autism. Think Cure'."

MAXIMIZING POTENTIAL, MAXIMIZING POSSIBILITIES

"Our Slogan
Maximizing Potential, Maximizing Possibilities."

======================================================================

AUTISM: IT'S NOT LIKE YOU THINK

"Autism: It's not like you think

Autistics have their own way of thinking that can be quite different
from the rest of the world's."

Oddizm Central

======================================================================

And here are ten that I made up myself. I hope nothing here is
offensive; since you mentioned being interested in joke references, I
have included some rather flippant slogans.

THERE'S JUST A ONE-LETTER DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ARTISTIC AND AUTISTIC

SUPPORT AUTISM RESEARCH: DISTURB THE SOUND OF SILENCE

AUTISM: WORDS A PART, WORLDS APART

A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING DISPLACED

AUTISM IS A SEPARATE WORLD: LOVE CAN BUILD A BRIDGE

AUT FOR AUT'S SAKE

AUTISTIC FORECAST FOR TODAY: SCATTERED BRAINSTORMS

FOR EVERY LOCKED MIND THERE'S A KEY TO FIND

I'M AUTISTIC: BEFORE THEY MADE ME, THEY BROKE THE MOULD

RAIN MAN FOR PRESIDENT: HEY, THE PRESS CONFERENCES WILL BE INTERESTING

======================================================================

My Google search strategy:

Google Web Search: slogan OR slogans autism
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=slogan+OR+slogans+autism

Google Web Search: quotes OR quote autism
://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=quotes+OR+quote+autism

======================================================================

I'd like to close with a wonderful quote from Dr. Temple Grandin, a
remarkable autistic woman who has shaken many preconceptions about
autism:

"What would happen if the autism gene was eliminated from the gene pool?

You would have a bunch of people standing around in a cave, chatting
and socializing and not getting anything done."

I hope this helps! I wish you good fortune with your fund raiser.

Very best regards,
pinkfreud

Hi Again Pink -

I don't need a clarification, just can't find a way to comment on my
own question. Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks again. I can always
count on you! And I love "scattered brainstorms" That is sure to be
popluar.
