I'm looking for detailed information[preferably in database or excel
format - downloadable] for US Schools:

1) Grade Schools
2) Jr High Schools
3) High Schools
4) Colleges & Universities
5) Grad & other Professional Schools

-The information should be in excel or .txt or similar format
-The information should include both public and private schools
-At a minimum the file should contain:

(1) Name of School
(2) Type of Institution (K, K-12, Grade, Jr., Highschool, etc.)
(3) Address of Institution - separated by appropriate fields, ie,
street #, street name, suite #, city, st, zip, +4, etc.

Bonus for:
-School's main phone number
-School's web site's home page URL
-A good list of Trade/Vocational Schools in the US with the same
information as above.
-Quick, accurate, in the right format Answer!

lister1-ga,

I think a lot of the information you want is out there and available,
but there are certain constraints in getting hold of it:

--some of the data sets are quite large, and will not fit into an
Excel spreadsheet which maxes out at about 64,000 records

--there isn't a single database, but instead there are three separate
databases: public schools, private schools, and colleges. Each
database is in a separate format.

--a dataset of private schools is available, but must be downloaded
one state at a time

Given the size limits restrictions, the need to download individual
states, and the variet of formats, it is simply too much work to put
this all into a single file for you to download. Even at the maximun
question price of $200, I don't think I would venture to try it.

However, I can certainly point you to all three databases, and provide
instructions for downloading them yourself. You can then massage the
data as you see fit.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the response. I do understand what you are saying. Let me
check another source and see if there are other options. If not I
could split this up into smaller 'questions' and post.
