I have a 22 year old young man who is disabled with Myotonic Muscular
Dystrophy and mildly retarded (he is mentally about 12 or 13). He is
very combative and disrespectful. I am at wits end at how to get him
under control. Please help me with suggestions on what I can do to get
him and I back in control

This is not a problem that you should have to handle on your own. Most
communities have organizations, both public and private, that might
offer you help and moral support. We could probably be of more
assistance if we knew where you live (just city, state/province and
nation, not your actual address).

What is your relationship to this young man? Is he living
independently? Are you his legal guardian? The more you can tell us
about the context of your question, the more likely someone will be
able to get you the information you need.

I am the father of this young man we live in Fresno,ca. He is a
relatively good person but does have periodic outburst using profanity
or attempts to hit. He is usually all talk and no reaction, but
occasionally will attempt to hit myself or his job coach. His muscle
weakness makes his hitting almost useless. He reacts before he thinks
which is his major problem and I think his retardation has something
to do with that.
