I am just back from Thailand, my fourth trip; have been making the trip annually for four years now. This time I finally hired someone to sit down with me (in thailand) and start to learn some basic thai. Now that I am back I want to find the best online resources I can to facilitate learning but primarily speaking basic phrases to my family and friends living in Chiang Mai. My question: Can you refer me to some good websites for learning thai? I am looking for a site where you can choose for example from a list of words, click a button, and hear it repeated back. Also looking to buy some tapes or perhaps the ability to download mp3 lessons to my ipod. Last, a site that has a forumn for beginnners to post questions. Many thanks. Dave Walker |

Your best bet is to go with Thai by Pimsleur. The Pimsleur method is one of the best ways to learn any language, and you can quickly import the CD's onto your iPod. That is exactly what I did with Japanese. I highly recommend it. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743500458/ref=pd_sxp_f/102-9209806-4551303?v=glance&s=books |
