I decided to load up my collection of hundreds of CDs into my
computer, initially because the number of CDs long ago exceeded the
capacity of my CD Changer. I started the process using a simple
program called "CDCOPY" which stores the files in WAV format
in a nicely organized directory structure, using CDDB to find
album info.
THEN half-way through this process I found out that Windows
Media Player could store the CDs in lossless WMA format in
less than half the size, and now I really like the Auto
Playlist features like categorization, ratings, recently
played, etc.
UNFORTUNATELY now I can't seem to find a way to import
all the albums stored as WAV files (that I had already done
prior to this great discovery) into WMP in a way that will
detect the original album (i.e. adding it to the library with
full album/track info) and compress the WAV to WMA. I could go
back and re-import from the original CDs but that would be
extremely time-consuming.
So, IS THERE a way out of me having to re-import from
the original CDs? How can I get my WAV files into WMP
library in WMA format and with full album info, preferrably
in some sort of "batch mode" which can be started off and
left to run without intervention?
Thanks. |
