I spent nearly a decade as an aptitude testing specialist for a state
government agency. While aptitude tests which attempt to evaluate
job-related abilities have been thoroughly normed and scientifically
evaluated, personality tests are a very different matter. Things such
as curiosity and resiliency are difficult to define, much less
measure. It is my belief that tests of such characteristics are
generally a waste of time and money. Others feel differently, of
course, but many of the "others" are attached to the industries that
produce and sell such tests.
