Question ID: 534643
This happened in the State of Wisconsin over the past 8 months.

If a credit card was obtained by a minor by lying over the phone about
his age, was closed before the minor turned 18, can the minor claim
all previous charges fraudulent and incur no penalty?

If the credit card providers submit negative reports to a credit
agency is this a legitimate appeal?

2 Cards were acquired when the minor was 16 and were closed
approximately 4 months before turning 18 after the credit cards were
maxed out. This person does not have the means to pay for the monthly
payment of the $5000 debt and feels they were fraudulently acquired.

He might not go down if he did not know abou them. But who ever did
will. Credit card fraud is a serious crime and they will not be
satisfied untill someone is eaither punished or pays the bill.

Lying over the phone in order to receive a credit card, and then using
this credit card, are both criminal offences in Wisconsin. Yes, the
debts might have been fraudulently acquired, by the person who has
acquired them. The age is also important here - if a nine-years-old
would have been able to immitate an adult voice and get the card, it
might have been different; but nowadays, 16-years-olds are tried as
adults in many cases.

My suggestion? Hiring a very good solicitor to try to negitiate a deal
with the credit card companies. Else, it might end in criminal
charges, not only in bad credit reports.
