Hi there!
Harry Champion's "Standard Bread" is more popularly known as "I'm
Henry VII, I Am"!
"HARRY CHAMPION
I'm Henry VII/Standard bread

Herman's Hermits popularized the song later with their upbeat and
wacky cover - thanks to them, the lyrics are archived all over the
'Net. Here's the first verse (and the second verse is the same as the
first!):
"I'm Henry the eighth I am
Henry the eighth I am, I am
I got married to the widow next door
She's been married seven times before
And every one was an Henry (Henry)
She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam (no Sam)
I'm her eighth old man, I'm Henry
Henry the eighth I am"
Notes on the lyrics:
"- written in 1911
- popularized in England by Harry Champion"
I'm Henry The Eighth, I Am

Thanks for a fun question! Alas, I'm not going to be able to get the
song out of my head for a couple hours... :-)

Aiyiyi! It appears my colleague is correct and I have goofed
immensely! I was absolutely certain I had found it. I will search
further today, and post the results later in the day. I'm so terribly
sorry!

I already have the Harry Champion CD on Windyridge label. I can only
identify some of the words when I listen to it. Please get me the
complete set of words for the entire song so that I can print it.

Hello fish,
As I had stated in my previous clarification, I was searching further,
as a colleague had pointed out that I did make a mistake. I have
e-mail out to several sources in the UK for a transcription of the
lyrics, and have been awaiting a reply.
Apparently, you do not wish to wait for these sources to get back to
me, so I can correct the mistake.
Please apply for a refund and repost your question so another
researcher (perhaps one in the UK, who may have faster sources) can
take a crack at it.
