Question ID: 534836
I need a list of popular classifieds websites in Australia (sites
where people or businesses post items for sale or trade or barter.
Also general communities of exchange/announcements, such as
Craigslist).

I do not want sites that focus on just one category (e.g. autos, or
toys, or musical instruments).

I do not need to know the following (some of which might not fit into
the category anyway): eBay, Trading Post, graysonline Australia,
fowles.com.au, pickles.com.au, dealsdirect.com.au, trademe.co.nz,
stuff.com.au, auctiontrader.com.au, Checkout, The Pitstop Bookshop,
Xuppa.com.

Thank you.

Hello there.

I found a bunch, and can probably find a bunch more, but there are two
things to note:

1. It's hard to gauge the popularity of some of the sites, though the
one's that pop up earliest in searches tend to be the major sites.

2. How many such sites are you hoping to receive as an answer to your question?

Let me know what you think. In the mean time, here's the list as I've
got it so far:

I want a comprehensive list. That is a bit vague, and is is unlikely
that there are more than a dozen or so that are popular. That kind of
number is fine, as long as the sites seem to be fairly popular.
Although you can't always tell, a quick glance at the number of items
for sale will flag any sites with limited usage.

macaonghus-ga,

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take my best shot at putting together a
comprehensive list.

In the mean time, if you have a chance to give me any feedback on the
sites already listed, that would help in focusing my research.

Are these the sort of sites you're looking for? In particular, is a
geographically local site like "Brisbane classifieds" OK to include,
or do you only want sites that cover all Australia?

macaonghus-ga,

I've been doing a fair amount of poking around, and I think I have a

I suggest you try BidInn Online Auctions - http://www.bidinn.com You
can register to sell for free and the only charge is a 3.25 percent
commission on the price of the item you sell. If you don't sell the
item, you don't pay anything.

It has a 'BuyNow' function also which acts exactly like a classifieds service.

give it a try, see what you think!
