I am looking for the name of a song. I know a lot of the lyrics, but I
cannot seem to find the song anywhere. I have used google to search
the lyrics I know, and I have found nothing. I have even emailed the
"Midnight Cowboy" Bill Mack, and he could not remember exactly who it
was (it rung a bell with him). I want the name of the
song and the artist(s) that sing it.
The song is old, probably from the 70s, or perhaps the 60s or 80s, but
somewhere in that time period.
The chorus for the song goes approximately like this:
"Oh, those high ridin' heroes, they're everywhere the wind blows; he's
been to hell and Texas...and he knows how it feels to be ridin' that
hot streak, dumped on some back street...fallin' off the wagon, and
under the wheels."
I may not have gotten the above perfect, but it is pretty close (I am
working from a 10-15 year old memory of hearing the song).

It is possible that these lines come from David Lynn Jones's song
"Hard Times on Easy Street," but I have not been able to confirm this.
The song is about a once-affluent couple whose lives hit the skids.
