Re: a new PC, Windows XP. For a month or so, there was no virus
software on this computer and it was connected to the Internet via
Verizon DSL. Have since installed McAfee and a good pop-up blocker as
well as Ad-Aware. Problem: Ad-Aware identifie at least 400 "serious to
dangerous" files every week. The PC user does not go to websites other
than weather.com and some kid Nickelodean sites. (There are parental
controls in place). I have identified 2 files that deny me access:
Motive (which I think is Verizon DSL's program and is harmless) and
something else called Surfside Kick which I am not able to remove
(access is denied). Before I bring in "Geeks on Call" could you
perhaps give me some advice as to what to do or what could be possibly
causing the problem? The only "symptom" on the computer is that the
Internet slows down to a crawl on a regular basis and I have to go in
and delete all the adware. Thanks so much.
