I heard a song on the radio with the lyrics "I like to swim" sung by a Larry Blackmon sounding funk singer. He also mentions "chicken of the sea" and other aquatic things, but keeps repeating the phrase "I like to swim." His phrasing is intentionally moronic in an ironic way that is sheer genius. The vocalists intonation is somewhere between singing and speaking. He sounds black. Who did this song? Where can I get it? | |

I wonder if this might have been "Scat Swim," by Sly Stewart (of "Sly and the Family Stone"). There's a clip of "Scat Swim" here: http://www.towerrecords.com/product.aspx?pfid=1052158 |

Hello solaris4321-ga, It sounds like you may be looking for "Swim" by Fishbone. You can listen to a clip here: Amazon.com Give A Monkey A Brain And He'll Swear He's The Center Of The Universe Fishbone http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000028PD/qid=1119494903/sr=8-7/ref=pd_bbs_7/104-4402038-9157535?v=glance&s=music&n=507846 Punknews.org Fishbone - Give A Monkey A Brain And He'll Swear He's The Center Of The Universe http://www.punknews.org/reviews.php?op=albumreview&id=3708 "The album's first track, "Swim," can either be the song that brings you in or makes you dismiss the album without even listening to the rest of the album. I say this because while the song is very energetic and does a great job of showing Fishbone's heavier influences, the repetitive chorus of "I like to swim" may be too repetitious for many." No, it is neither Sly Stewart or Fishbone. Neither song qualifies as funk. The lyrics are way off. |
