On a summer hiking trip, I lost a couple dozen of my CDs that were in a carrying case. Although I do not have the receipts for the CDs, I still have the complete CD cases. Is there a way I can contact the companies that produced the CDs and get replacement copies? or is there any other solution to my problem that wouldn't involve buying the songs all over again? $5.00 | |

Hello tbonepower07-ga, Have you looked into Allofmp3.com? http://allofmp3.com/index.shtml?r=2133660858 They?re a Russian Site that has many full albums for download, at about 2.00 an album on average. It would be much cheaper to replace your CD?s that way. I linked you to the English Version; however, it?s translated from Russian, so beware of some odd sentences. Here?s is the FAQ on: ?Is it legal to download music from site allofmp3.com?? ?All the materials in the MediaServices projects are available for distribution through Internet according to license # LS-3?-05-03 of the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society. Under the license terms, MediaServices pays license fees for all the materials subject to the Law of the Russian Federation "On Copyright and Related Rights". All the materials are available solely for personal use and must not be used for further distribution, resale or broadcasting. Users are responsible for any usage and distribution of all materials received from AllOFMP3.com. This responsibility depends on the local legislation of each user's country of residence. AllOFMP3.com's Administration does not keep up with the laws of different countries and is not responsible the actions of non-Russian users.? I hope you get your CD?s replaced! If this answer requires further explanation, please request clarification before rating it, and I'll be happy to look into this further. Nenna-GA Google Answers Researcher |

In my modest opinion, you already paid for the copyrights of those CD's and you should simply copy them from someone. It would have been perfectly legal to copy them - for your own use- before the trip and carry those copies aroud, keeping the original safe. That's basically the whole point of having the right to make copies for your own personnal use. Although legaly, you might not be able to PROVE your ownership of the copyrighted material, you are morally right to copy these CD. |

I agree with you, but no one I know actually owns these CDs, so its a bit difficult to get copies. I was actually able to replace 3 of my albums (Rubber Soul, Chicago Transit Authority, and Chicago II) for only $5. |

It is illegal for an American to download from allofmp3.com. You may as well pirate the material since you're violating trade law by obeying copyright law. |
