Can anyone find out how I can get a print, or some other sort of reproduction, of some of Muppetmaster Jim Henson's early college-days art? Works include "Conceit," "Melancholy," "Hilarity," and "Musicians." You can see them in the book, "Jim Henson's Designs and Doodles." |

yprime-ga, This question makes me smile. Designs & Doodles is a fantastic look at a side of Jim Henson that even the most devoted fans (like me) may not be familiar with. I've emailed the Jim Henson Archives to see if prints of these wonderful works are available. I'll let you know what I learn! Best, Rebeccam-ga PS - I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to meet Lisa Henson and wander around the Jim Henson Studios, on what was once Charlie Chaplain's studio lot. It's beautiful, fanciful, just what you'd think it should look like, and both the place and the people there seem soaked with his unique spirit. just thought I'd share :) |

Thanks, Rebecca, I'm glad there's someone else out there who appreciates Jim's non-Muppet work. (I especially like the little advertising storyboards for the coffee commercials. Some of them are kind very un-Muppetlike, when you think about it. :) ) If I'm not mistaken, you're talking about the Kaufman-Astoria studios; I used to live a few blocks away, but never had the chance to see the world inside! Have you read "Sesame Street Unpaved"? I thought that was also a great look at the world of SS from the inside. Thanks, yprime |
