Learned ones,
I've just bought a new PC laptop and running a wireless internet
connection. I am still continuing my cable connection to my PC with
Optus (who also provide me with my email addy) but I have needed to
sign up with Chilli.net.au for the laptop as Optus do not have
wireless services.
Here's the problem: Outlook Express on the laptop downloads my emails
from the Optus email website fine. However, when I try to SEND an
email on the laptop i get a McAfee Virus message saying the email
couldnt be sent "relaying denied. IP name possibly forged
202.155.163.170". That IP address happens to be Chilli.net.au

So, I went into McAfee Firewall Utilities and added that IP to a list
of trusted IPs. Still no joy.

A solution to this would be most appreciated.

cheers,
bpb

Thanks guys. Disabling firewall & antivirus does not improve the
situation. Jeshua, your comments appear to check out, but I will
request the "Outingoing SMTP Mail Server" IP address as Bschonec
requested. Maybe this will help ?

Is there any software on the net I can install that allows me to emit
an alternate IP address (ie, one that Optus would recognise as one of
its own) ?

thanks,

Try to disable Firewall and antivirus.
Then send a mail.
Otherwise post the list of software/hardware on laptop

Chilli.net.au is rejecting your attempts to send email. This is not a
problem on your side per se. You'll need to contact your internet
service provider to find out what their "Outingoing SMTP Mail Server"
IP address.

If I understand correctly, on your laptop you are using your
Chilli.net.au to connect to the internet, and are trying to use the
Optus SMTP server to send your email. It may be that Optus is checking
your laptop's IP address when you send email from your laptop, and
thus notices that your IP address is NOT one that Optus owns (it is in
fact one that Chilli.net.au owns). Optus may then be rejecting the
email because your laptop is trying to use their SMTP server even
though your laptop is not on the Optus network. I suspect this may be
the case, especially since they keep people on their network from
using SMTP servers that are not on their network (see
