Nobody's touched this one, and probably for good reason.
For those who don't know, the Adirondack Park is a tract of land
larger than some nations, and until the Alaska National Parks came
along, was the largest Park in the world. It occupies a humongous part
of New York State. The quirk is that it is rather like an English
National Park in that it has privately owned sections. The Park is
essentially a work of zoning; it was erected mainly to protect New
York City's water supply.
Lake Tear of the Cloud, as I recall, is within its boundaries, and is
the ultimate source of the Hudson River (and is hard by Mt. Marcy,
highest point in New York State). There is a poetic pun here. Is it
pronounced 'teer' or 'tare', in that both work. Is is the cloud crying
into the lake, or is the lake ripping into the cloud?
New York State most certainly has jurisdiction. As for them exercising
it, I think you need to consult a lawyer. |
