According to the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners, complaints filed
are not available to the public. However, if the Board has taken
action against a physician or he has been sued, you may obtain that
information by filling out a search form and including a fee of $10:
"15. Can I find out if there are any complaints against my doctor or
other Board licensee?
The Board does not give out information about complaints, since not
all complaints are valid and a licensee's reputation could be harmed
unfairly. However, the Board does investigate complaints to determine
whether the Medical Practice Act (the law governing medical practice
in Oregon) has been violated. If the Board has taken action against a
licensee for a violation of the Medical Practice Act, this information
is available to the public.

16. How do I find out if my doctor has been sued?
You can write the Board a letter requesting a malpractice search on
the doctor. There is a $10 fee for this service. You will receive a
written report showing the dates and results of any "closed" civil
cases of malpractice suits that have been settled. This report will
not show any suits which are still pending or which were settled prior
to litigation. If there is no malpractice information to report, you
will receive a letter stating so. Keep in mind that the fee is charged
for the search itself whether or not it turns up any information. A
Malpractice Request Form is available for your convenience."
