I had the same situation in Virginia and the answer was that if you pay state taxes then you are in state. Even as a non-resident alien if you have a driver?s license and a W2 then you should not have an issue. There are of course other ways of proving state residency that will be acceptable. It is curious to note that you are being asked to pay out of state fees when if there were an issue you would be asked for international fees. This makes me wonder if the advice you are being given is from a knowledgeable source. This is just my experience in Virginia but I would guess that the same rules apply in all states. Good luck |

The admmision form has part which asks that "Are you a legal resident
of CT?"below it states that Connecticut law requires that a student be
a citizen or a permanent resident living in CT for 12 months prior to
the beginning of the semester to be eligigable to receive in-state
tution. The admissions office may require proof of residency
Does permanent resident mean a green card holder? |
